Our Environmental Responsibility
The Canute Group’s environmental policy is an essential element of our overall business strategy. Minimising both exposure to risk and the impact on the environment are our key objectives. Also, fundamental to our policy is building employee skills to take ownership of legislative compliance and to demonstrate responsible business practices.
Our Environmental Footprint
By conserving energy resources, purchasing environmentally-friendly equipment and carefully managing waste, the Canute Group continually works to minimise our carbon footprint. In addition, we encourage clients, suppliers and contractors to share our commitment to excellent environmental practices.
All of our employees complete an annual half day training sessions on environmental issues, where staff are invited to suggest ways that The Canute Group could reduce its environmental impact. These suggestions have resulted in the implementation of an internal plan that aims to increase awareness and encourages employees to make small changes that will reduce our consumption of energy and fuel, whilst reducing waste.
Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC)
As a responsible operator, The Canute Group focuses on sustainable development and new legislation through the effective management of recyclable/non-recyclable waste, packaging equipment and materials, along with any product returns.
We manage all of our operations to the standards expected under the ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management System. We also handle environmental issues at The Canute Group through our impacts register, company procedures and via monitoring depot activities.
An example of our environmental target setting is our policy to minimise the environmental impacts resulting from the use of our vehicles. We are therefore implementing a series of sustainability initiatives including the promotion of cars with low CO2 emissions, evaluation of alternative fuel vehicles to ascertain their potential benefit to the fleet, ensuring vehicles are properly maintained and identifying opportunities to reduce mileage by the use of telematics and route planning software.
